SWEETCLOUD
Commissioned by Hubbard Street Dance CREATE (2024)
This work was initiated in the summer of 2024 at Hubbard Street Dance Chicago’s Create summer program, where I was a guest choreographer for both the adult and teen programs. SWEETCLOUD explores seeking moments above the clouds that weigh us down in daily life. Here we explore the times in life that feel like pure bliss which to me are the moments that I find myself living for when I am being weighed down by the challenges of life. The characters in this work are variations of cabaret characters that hold a lightness, sense of humor and almost feel naively hopeful while in contrast have a brokenness to them.
