All there was and all we were

Carmel Dance Festival, Inaugural Fellowship

All there was, and all we were is an exploration of the constant momentum of time against the backdrop of societal and environmental elements that are shifting, sometimes in harmony and sometimes in discord. Moments of harmony between time and change elicit feelings of growth and progress, but moments of discord often thrust us into a sense of retrograde and we are forced into an awkward dance of simultaneous backpedaling and swimming upstream. Here in this work, we explore how this juxtaposition of how perceived growth and regression feels in the body and the heart–physically and emotionally–while bringing the natural timing and visceral presence of life to the stage. This work looks to explore the inherent dissonance that comes with being alive–how life can be both breathtakingly beautiful and unexpectedly like an earthquake, changing instantly.
